Odds & Ends

Recently, my web designers introduced me to the miracle of Google Analytics. It’s absolutely amazing! It tracks all sorts of data related to A Doctor’s Kitchen, including the number of independent visitors, number of visits, average time on the site, referral source, number of views of specific content, and also the visitor map overlay (geographic distribution). Although the number of visits per day is relatively low (my highest daily tally has been 486), I’m astonished at the number of countries represented (33), and I thought you might find the list interesting.

One final celebratory note: Last week, I submitted several recipes to Foodbuzz, the largest and most influential online community of food bloggers. The next day, I just happened to be going through my e-mail when–for no particular reason–I decided to glance at the “Daily Buzz”  which always features the Top 9. I could not believe my eyes: There was my Fennel with Garlic and Parsley– fork and all – in the 9th spot! (My photographer and I had gone back and forth about that fork: I was for it, he against.) Until a friend mentioned that my dish had moved up to #5, I had no idea that rank within the Top 9 could change with voters’ buzzes.  I immediately e-mailed friends who buzzed like crazy and were able to move me up to #7 where I spent the rest of the day. It was quite a ride!!
